Even coming off an Achilles injury, Kevin Durant hasn’t lost a beat.
Averaging 28.2 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 51% shooting, he is clearly still among the NBA’s most elite players.
For teams tasked with slowing him down, they’re finding out the hard way that KD has come ready to play this season. Ahead of his matchup against the Nets star tonight, Wizards coach Scott Brooks was very candid in his response on how they plan on slowing him down.

There’s no doubt that Brooks has an actual gameplan for his squad, but we all know Durant is likely to trample it anyway. He’s just that good, and there is no denying it.
The Wizards, though, have bigger problems to deal with than Durant. After a 1-5 start to the season, the Wizards are dead last in the East and among the worst defensive teams in the NBA. Something needs to start clicking for the Wiz, or their chances to make the postseason will start slipping away.
For the Nets, things haven’t panned out perfectly, either. A 3-3 start has indicated some clear and obvious issues with the team, but there is a strong belief that the powers of Durant and Irving will be enough to pull them through it in the end.
Durant, after all, has a history of answering when his back is against the wall.
