Wizards Coach Scott Brooks Reveals Russell Westbrook Got Injured During Training Camp

1 Min Read

The Washington Wizards had a lot of optimism entering the 2021 season. With Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal, and Davis Bertans, they have a roster on paper that should be able to compete with the best of them.

Unfortunately, the Wizards have struggled mightily this season — and it may have to do with their star point guard, Russell Westbrook, who apparently started the season with an injury.

“He will probably be upset that I’m saying this. He hurt himself, he got hit pretty bad in his quad in training camp. The thing about him is he’s tough as nails,” Brooks said, via Chase Hughes of NBC Sports.

The 32-year-old star is putting up season averages of 19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 11.3 assists per game on 38.8% shooting. He’s shooting 30.3% from downtown.

The Wizards are 3-8 so far this season, with a 13th place standing in the East.

Needless to say, this hasn’t been the start Wizards fans have been hoping for. And for Russ, who seemed to be looking forward to a fresh start, it seems he’ll be on a steep uphill battle this season.
