Teams could have bad NBA seasons, but some teams go through long stretches of losing – most notably during the rebuilding process. Of these teams, some of them improve and some move backward. A variety of factors affect the outcome including draft picks and trades. Here are the teams with the most losses since the 2013-2014 season.

5. Phoenix Suns – 302 Losses

The Suns are one of the worst teams in the NBA and have been since the 2013-2014 season with 302 losses to current day. The franchise has seen their share of bad luck and bad draft picks.

Perhaps the highlight of the Suns losing season is Devin Booker. The young shooting guard is one of the best young players in the NBA and has back-to-back seasons averaging 24+ points per game.

Besides Booker, nothing has gone right for the Suns. Last season, they selected Deandre Ayton and he has been very good so far. Hopefully, a new draft pick may help turn the team around.

4. Philadelphia 76ers – 304 Losses

Fadeaway World

The 76ers may the 4th most losses since the 2013-2014 season with 304 losses, but the team has bounced back better than anyone on this list.

The 76ers utilized their bad play in the form of draft picks of which they used to pick Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid – two of the best young players in the NBA.

After losing so much, the Sixers draft picks eventually started paying off. However, the team also made a few bad picks with Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor.

3. Orlando Magic – 305 Losses

The Orlando Magic have 305 losses since the 2013-2014 season. The franchise hasn’t seen much luck in that timeframe with the exception of signing Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton.

The losing seasons of the Magic have not exactly transitioned into a strong young core. The Magic have not had much luck with their draft picks – save for Payton and Gordon, of which Payton has left Orlando for New Orleans.

The highlight of the Magic is definitely Nikola Vucevic who made the 2019 All-Star team. The team also snagged Markelle Fultz from the 76ers – a promising young talent. Aside from those two, there isn’t much going on with the Magic.

2. New York Knicks – 310 Losses

With 310 losses since the 2013-2014 season, the Knicks come in second worst after the Lakers. The Knicks have been atrocious in play and in drafting. Their only highlight since the 2014 season was drafting Kirstaps Porzingis.

The team has the worst record in the league and hasn’t been in contention – even after bringing Carmelo Anthony and Phil Jackson to the helm.

However, the Knicks may be due for an upgrade after losing so many games the last 5 seasons – in the form of Zion Williamson. With the possibility of getting the first pick and the addition of either Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant, this may be the last chance for the Knicks to bounce back.

1. Los Angeles Lakers – 313 Losses

The Los Angeles Lakers have the most losses since the 2013-2014 season. Since the injury of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers have been on a downward spiral. During his last few lingering seasons, the Lakers were horrendous.

Although, the time losing didn’t go wasted. As a result of consistent losing records, the Lakers were able to snag some of the best talents in the draft – and they got a good eye for it. The Lakers did well in drafting with players like Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram with the addition former players Julius Randle and Diangelo Russell – both which are averaging 19+ points per game.

This may be the Lakers last chance to climb to prominence. With LeBron James in the driver’s seat, the Lakers may be approaching the end of their troubles.
