It’s been over a year since we’ve seen Carmelo Anthony on an NBA basketball court. After his 10-game stint with the Rockets ended in 2018, he has yet to be signed on an NBA roster.
11x All-Star and former Suns superstar Charles Barkley does not understand why.
“I wish I can give you a legitimate answer to that,” Barkley told Robinson. “I have no idea why Carmelo is not in the NBA. I’m not gonna make up anything, but I’m surprised he’s not in the league. I thought someone would have picked him up by now, but I can’t give you a legitimate answer, to be honest with you.”
While many share that same confusion, Anthony is far from the ideal basketball player. Besides continuous defensive lapses, the 35-year-old forward struggles to stay efficient on the offensive end as well.
The past two seasons, he has not shot above 40% from the field and is coming off his most recent campaign having scored a career-low 13.6 points per game.
It’s hard to determine if Melo will ever return to the league. As time passes he only grows older, and his reputation has yet to recover from his seasons in OKC and Houston. But there has to be somebody in NBA circles who share Barkley’s opinion… right?
