There are a lot of questions about how far the Lakers can go this season. With LeBron’s age, Anthony Davis’ injury history, and a questionable cast of role-players, there are no guarantees when it comes to the postseason for L.A.
When asked directly about their chances this spring, Stephen A. Smith said they had enough to get to the final stage of the competition, so long as their two stars bring their a-game.
“Yes they are,” said Stephen A. when asked if LeBron and AD were enough to get the Lakers to the Finals. “But they’ll have to bring their a-games in order to pull it off. My position has been consistent from the standpoint that I had the Lakers going to the Finals because I said those two guys, LeBron and AD, are two of the top five players on the planet earth. And if they bring their game, they should be able to do it.”
With steep competition out West, the Lakers will need to have their ducks in a row if they really want to make the Finals this season. In the segment, Max and Smith admitted that the Clippers had a much deeper roster.
But when you have Top-5 talents like AD and Bron on the team, you will always have a chance. Together, there really isn’t anything the dynamic duo cannot accomplish. For the Lakers, despite their silence at the trade deadline, the play of Davis and James alone is enough to give them more than a fair chance at the chip.
Still, the odds seem to be stacked against them. The Clippers are younger, stronger, and deeper. It will be a hard-fought battle for both sides in the end.
