The Most Realistic Trade Idea: Miami Heat Can Create A Powerhouse With Giannis Antetokounmpo

4 Min Read

With the Bucks down 3-0 to Miami, their Championship hopes have dwindled mightily, as has confidence that they will be able to sign Giannis Antetokounmpo to a long term deal in the summer of 2021.

Unless Milwaukee makes a dramatic turnaround, Giannis’ impending free-agency will be a huge matter of concern for them. And without confirmation that he’s staying, trading him now may the best option for the team, to ensure they don’t lose him for nothing.

You can expect every team in the league to test the waters of a Giannis deal, but no team in the league may be more equipped to get it done than the squad facing off against Giannis right now: the Miami Heat.

Primed with assets and cap space, the Heat have more than enough to make an intriguing offer for Antetokounmpo.

Trade Package: Giannis Antetokounmpo For Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Kendrick Nunn, and Andre Iguodala

Giannis Will Make The Bucks Instant Title Contenders

Giannis may be in a bad way right now, but his talent cannot be understated. He’s the reigning MVP and DPOY for a reason and his presence on any team would make them instantly better.

For the Heat in particular, however, having Giannis might be all they need to become the next NBA powerhouse. With guys like Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson, Goran Dragic, Andre Iguodala, and Jae Crowder, they’ve got a team full of vets who can space the floor and help open things up for Antetokounmpo in the paint.

It’s a pretty ideal fit, even if the price is relatively high.

Bam Adebayo And Khris Middleton Could Form A Powerful Duo

There’s no way the Bucks would be able to make up for the loss of Giannis, but Bam Adebayo is certainly a nice consolation prize. As a versatile two-way big, he’s the perfect modern frontcourt player. With Khris Middleton, who is All-Star, they could get Milwaukee to the postseason, even if they won’t get very far.

Include Iguodala, Herro, and Nunn in the deal and it would certainly make things interesting for the Bucks. Losing Giannis would be an enormous blow, but with a deal like this, they could continue to stay competitive as they begin their search for another franchise star.

In the end, it’s hard to say for certain what the future holds in store for these teams. But, depending on how the rest of the series goes down, change may be in store for both. As for Antetokounmo, he has the chance to chose his own path and something says he won’t take that decision lightly.
