Paul Pierce Says He Would Average 50 Because The Rules Today Favor Offensive Players

Paul Pierce isn’t done making bold claims and to be honest, it doesn’t seem like he will stop anytime soon. The Boston Celtics legend isn’t the most humble man on earth when he talks about himself, but he often surprises fans with his hot takes.

After saying he had a better career than Dwyane Wade, claiming he was a better shooter than Klay Thompson and more, Pierce has stated he would average 50 points per game if he played in today’s NBA. During Thursday’s edition of ESPN’s The Jump, Pierce made the statement, explaining that rules favor offensive players, which makes things easier for Paul (1:20 minute mark).

“We all know the rules go to the offensive players these days and… Man, I would average 50 today,” Pierce said, while Richard Jefferson couldn’t believe what he just said.

Well, Pierce is back at it; his nickname is the Truth but a lot of fans and analysts will agree that such a claim is a big lie. The Boston Celtics icon was a very good player, but he often sees himself a lot better than he actually was. His best year, individually speaking, came in 2005/06, where he averaged 26.8 points per game. To say that he would average 50 PPG today is something crazy.

However, it’s Paul Pierce we’re talking about here. He actually believes what he’s saying. Throughout his career, Pierce averaged 19.7 points per game before retiring in 2017.
