Carmelo Anthony is one of the most gifted scorers in the history of the NBA, but he hasn’t always gotten the credit for that. Most fans have argued that Melo gets overlooked because his scoring hasn’t always contributed to winning basketball.

The closest Anthony has come to finding championship success is during his stint with the Denver Nuggets, when he led the team to the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009. But according to his former head coach, he was a headache for their staff to plan around in order to win.

Melo’s career has been very long, almost lasting 2 decades. He, along with LeBron James, are the two longest-tenured active players in the NBA today. And during that time, Melo has been one of the most consistent scorers in the NBA. So much so, that he made history during his performance against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Anthony was spectacular during the game against the Grizzlies, leading the Lakers in scoring. He put up 28 points, and helped the Lakers seal the win, something fans enjoyed greatly. His performance was crucial for the Lakers, as the Grizzlies and Ja Morant gave them a tough battle.

And in doing so, Melo surpassed Moses Malone on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. No, Anthony has 27,410 careers points. He now holds the 9th spot, in the all-time charts, joining LeBron James as the only active player on the list. It is truly an incredible accomplishment for Melo.

Whether Melo will be able to surpass Shaquille O’Neal, who sits about 1100 points above him before the end of his career remains to be seen. But regardless, this is an accomplishment that Melo will be able to hang on to.

Now nearing the end of his career, Anthony will only want one more accolade; an NBA championship. And with the Lakers, he has the best possible chance of his NBA career in order to win.
