The Los Angeles Lakers made one of the boldest moves of the offseason, if not the boldest.
They added Russell Westbrook to a team that already featured plenty of star power, and while some people are worried about the fit, he’s excited and vowed to figure out how to complement Anthony Davis and LeBron James.
Westbrook also admitted that he always wanted to come back home and play for the Los Angeles Lakers, so motivation is at an all-time high for him:
“Secretly yes. I think every player eventually play home. And I think now the timing is right, the setting is right, the team is right. Everything is in line,” Westbrook said. “It’s crazy. Because I played with Melo in Oklahoma City. And we never even talked about playing with each other. Me and Bron been friends for years and never even came up. And then all of a sudden this summer was like ‘Boom, Lakers! Boom Boom Boom Draft!’. Next thing you know I’m a Laker. Happened so quick… We talked before but nothing about playing.”
Westbrook has yet to win an NBA championship and playing for the Lakers will give him a great opportunity of changing that, even though he knows it won’t be easy:
“Guaranteed? Hmm. But I like our chances,” Westbrook said when asked about whether he guaranteed the fans a championship.
Winning a ring is just what he needs to silence his critics. But for now, meme pages and fans will continue to make fun of him for being ringless.
If you don’t take our word for it, just take a look at the hilarious pic posted by NBA Memes, in which they explain that LeBron and Westbrook chose numbers 6 and 0 because the first lost 6 Finals and the latter has won 0 championships. Needless to say, fans had a blast on the comments section:

At the end of the day, winning an NBA championship depends on many factors. Health, the matchup, your teammates, and even luck come into play.
Hopefully, Westbrook will finally shut down that narrative and win a ring before he decides to retire. He deserves it after such an impressive career.
