If we talk about the biggest shots made in the history of the NBA, most people will include Ray Allen’s 3-point shot in the 2013 NBA finals. Yes, the shot that tied game 6 of the Finals, which was ultimately won by the Miami Heat. Later on, the Heat would go on to win back-to-back NBA championships.
While the shot certainly held a lot of importance for the Heat at that moment, but if Allen missed that shot, it would have an even bigger impact than just Miami losing the finals.
For starters, that would have meant LeBron James would have one ring less today and be 3-7 in the NBA finals. This could mean a much poorer stance for LeBron in the GOAT debate.
Speaking of the GOAT debate, Tim Duncan would have the same number of rings as the great Michael Jordan. Moreover, Duncan’s then-teammate Tracy McGrady would have retired with a championship on his resumé.

As pointed out by ESPN on its Instagram page, the Big 3 experiment would have certainly failed. The reason? Well, NBA fans would have torn the three superstars to shreds after winning just one championship in four years!
Similarly, Dwyane Wade’s legacy would have been tarnished as he would have two rings instead of three. On the other hand, Kawhi Leonard would have won another championship and taken his ring total to three.
While this is a hypothetical scenario, it still proves the importance of that one shot by former NBA sharpshooter Ray Allen.
One more thing: NBA fans would have missed an iconic Mike Breen “Bang” call on air.
Fortunately, Allen didn’t miss that shot and helped the Miami Heat get back in the series.
Unfortunately, Allen couldn’t pull another rabbit out of the hat the next season, when San Antonio did defeat Miami in the finals and effectively put an end to the Big 3 era for the Heat.
Allen retired after that season and was later inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame for an incredible career. He will forever hold a special place in the hearts of Heat fans for giving their team an unforgettable moment.
