Dennis Schroder has recently signed with the Boston Celtics on a one-year $5.9 million deal with the Boston Celtics. Dennis Schroder will fill their void at point guard, and will likely start next to Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
The deal Dennis Schroder signed with the Boston Celtics in free agency is far smaller than the $84 million extension he rejected from the Los Angeles Lakers during the season. Dennis Schroder bet on himself to earn more than the Lakers’ offer but it seems as though no team was willing to give him a long-term lucrative deal during this free agency period.
While he didn’t get the contract he originally desired, a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics could allow him to prove that he deserves a big contract. Many fans have clowned Dennis Schroder for his decision, but at the end of the day, Schroder is still a solid player. Schroder sent a message to his hater on Instagram, telling people to “keep that same energy” for when he presumably plays well in Boston.

During the 2020-21 season, Dennis Schroder averaged 15.5 PPG and 5.8 APG with the Los Angeles Lakers. He played a smaller role on the offensive end during his time with the Lakers, but prior seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Hawks would suggest that Dennis Schroder can definitely take on a bigger scoring load if needed. While he may not be an All-Star, he is still a starting-caliber point guard, and he could easily have a bounce-back year with the Boston Celtics.
There is no question that Dennis Schroder could still earn a lucrative contract in the future, but a lot of that hinges on his play this season. Hopefully, Dennis Schroder will perform well next season, and perhaps he will prove everyone wrong about him.
