NBA Fans Debate On Who Would Win The All-Time 3PT Contest: “Steph, With All Due Respect To All The Others.”

During every All-Star weekend, there is a 3PT contest, in which whoever ends up garnering the highest score wins. There is no doubt that it can be entertaining to watch the best shooters in the league try to outdo each other. We’ve seen some spectacular shooters in the contest over the years: if we could see the best of those shooters try to win a 3PT contest against each other, it would be legendary.

ESPN’s SportsCenter tried to imagine an All-Time 3PT shooting contest, posting a graphic that featured sharpshooting legends such as Larry Bird and Reggie Miller, as well as some of the more contemporary 3PT marksmen such as Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The question the account posed was simple: who wins the All-Time 3PT contest. NBA Fans debated the question, with lots of different opinions being expressed underneath the Tweet.

There is no doubt that all the people in the graphics were great shooters in their respective eras. While we will never get to see this actually happen, the idea of watching prime Stephen Curry and prime Larry Bird square up in a shootout certainly sounds like a good time. This graphic mentioned a lot of great shooters, but it seems as though they left some legends out. Former Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Mark Price seemed to want in on the action.

Mark Price was a 4-time All-Star and 4-time All-NBA selection during his tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers and averaged 40.2% from beyond the arc for his career. It is clear that Price was joking, but he would certainly be a worthy addition to the list.

Shooting from range is always going to be a useful skill for any guard, and the players on this list were able to take it to the extreme with their marksmanship, making defenses fear the mere threat of their jump shot. It would be hard to bet against any of these players in a shooting contest, and any of these players would have a chance to win if they got hot.
