Lakers Daily

Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James are known to be close friends. They have faced each other in the playoffs before, and now, it seems as though they will be teaming up on the Los Angeles Lakers.

The deal between Carmelo Anthony and the Los Angeles Lakers is now official, and it seems as though Anthony is ready to join a core that is capable of winning a championship.

During his time with the Portland Trail Blazers, Carmelo Anthony has revived his career. There were many that thought he was done after his stint with the Houston Rockets, but he has shown to be a capable bench scorer during his time in Portland. His addition to the Los Angeles Lakers will be good for their depth.

It remains to be seen how well the whole roster fits together, but Anthony’s addition is just one of many signings with which the Los Angeles Lakers have filled out the roster. A trio of Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James will always have an opportunity to win a championship based on their talent level. However, the key was whether the Los Angeles Lakers would be able to surround that core with enough shooting.

Carmelo Anthony is an elite shooter who can create for himself on a decent level, and on top of that the Los Angeles Lakers got guard Malik Monk and other veterans such as Wayne Ellington and Trevor Ariza. It is clear that the many ring-chasing veterans think that there is a promise with the Los Angeles Lakers and that this core is capable of winning a championship.

There is no question that Carmelo Anthony has shown he can be a contributor on a playoff team, even though he is nearing the end of his career. Perhaps he can do so with the Los Angeles Lakers, and win his first championship.
