Kyle Lowry will be a free agent this offseason, and he will have many teams vying for his services. Any team could improve by adding the 6-time All-Star, and his ability to score and facilitate could be put to great use on a contender.

A team that has been consistently linked with Kyle Lowry is the Miami Heat. The Heat have been eliminated in the first round this year despite making it to the Finals a year prior. It is clear that they could use some extra star power, and the addition of Kyle Lowry would make them better on both ends of the floor.

Adrian Wojnarowski has stated that the decision to pick up the option could be a “possible precursor” to sending the guard to Toronto in a sign-and-trade for Kyle Lowry.

The Heat's decision to pick up the $19.4M option on Goran Dragic's deal is a possible precursor in utilizing him as part of a potential sign-and-trade with Toronto for Kyle Lowry, sources tell ESPN.

While Goran Dragic is a good point guard, it seems as though the Miami Heat believe that Kyle Lowry is an upgrade. With a Lowry sign-and-trade, the Miami Heat would get a star, while the Toronto Raptors would get a replacement point guard in Goran Dragic, rather than letting Lowry leave for nothing.

It remains to be seen if Kyle Lowry even goes to the Miami Heat or whether he picks another destination. A prior report suggested that the New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks could be two other destinations for him, though the Miami Heat were listed in that report as well. If the Miami Heat got Lowry, their outlook for next season gets a lot better, and perhaps things will go
