Chicago Bulls Reportedly Willing To Offer $150M To Dennis Schroder

3 Min Read

Dennis Schroder struggled during his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers. After a solid year with Oklahoma City, where Schroder was in the running for Sixth Man Of The Year, the Lakers traded for him during the offseason. Schroder was seen as a replacement for Rajon Rondo, someone who could come in when LeBron James and Anthony Davis rested and coordinate the offense. And while he had a modest start, he encountered struggles in the second half of the season.

Schroder kept Laker fans on edge by not signing a contract extension during the course of the season, thinking he could leverage more after a solid run in the playoffs. However, that never happened, as the Los Angeles Lakers crashed out of the NBA Playoffs in the first round. Schroder was especially poor during their series against the Phoenix Suns and has hurt his chances of getting the big payday that he was looking for.

According to reports throughout the season, Schroder wants a $100 million contract from the Lakers or any other team that is willing to pay him that. The Lakers will be hesitant to offer that, as his performances did not make enough of an impact. But it appears another franchise may have some interest in Schroder.

NBA insider Chris Haynes is reporting that Dennis Schroder is looking for a five-year, $150 million contract this offseason. And the Chicago Bulls could be willing to give him that in order to bring him into the team next season. The Bulls are looking to take that next step into contention going into the new season. On the trade deadline day last season, the Bulls brought in All-Star center Nikola Vucevic to pair him with fellow All-Star Zach LaVine.

Bringing in another scorer in Schroder could help relieve LaVine and Vucevic of the attacking burden a little bit. However, it would create some complications with regard to the future of Coby White. White was selected with the 7th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft but has failed to make a strong impact since joining. The arrival of Schroder could spell the end for White in Chicago, as he would be surplus to requirements.
