NBA Rumors: Warriors Won’t Land Ben Simmons As The Sixers Want Too Much For Him

Bleacher Report

The Golden State Warriors are expected to be very aggressive in their pursuit of another All-Star caliber player in the offseason. They want to make the most of their title window with Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green and know that they need to improve their foundation to do so.

The Warriors have been linked to multiple stars in the past couple of weeks, including Philadelphia 76ers’ Ben Simmons. Nonetheless, according to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, they won’t be willing to meet the Sixers’ asking price for him:

“Simmons, the only All-Star known to be shopped by his team, is also unlikely to land with the Warriors. The 76ers are asking for a massive haul that includes an All-Star-level player. Per a league source, Golden State wouldn’t be willing to give up what it would take to get Simmons,” reported Letourneau.

The Warriors have enough assets to pull off a big deal this summer and they’re reportedly keeping tabs on multiple players. Then again, they’re wary of overpaying for any of the available stars:

“Each of the big names linked to the Warriors in recent weeks — Myles Turner, Pascal Siakam, Ben Simmons, Bradley Beal and even Damian Lillard — would require a considerable package of assets. In addition to James Wiseman and Andrew Wiggins, Golden State might have to include the seventh pick, the 14th pick and a couple of future first-rounders for certain superstars,” added the report.

The Warriors will continue to field calls on potential moves and are very likely to add another win-now piece in the next couple of weeks.

And, albeit getting Ben Simmons would’ve been huge for them, it just doesn’t seem like the Sixers are going to do them any favors, even if they’re indeed trying to move on from him.
