For the better part of a decade now, LeBron Raymone James has been the NBA’s best player. With 4 NBA Championships, 4 MVPs, and 17 All-Star appearances, “King” James has easily become the face of modern basketball.

But is LeBron’s reign finally coming to an end?

According to Nick Wright, famous LeBron James advocate, it could be Giannis’ turn to take the throne if he wins the Finals this year.

“I think officially, potentially, if the Bucks can win the NBA Finals, Giannis can take the crown from LeBron.”

Nick Wright is about as big a LeBron fan as you can get. So if the guy is willing to concede that Giannis is the best player (assuming he wins this series), it’s a pretty big deal.

Interestingly, the Greek Freak is on track to surpass LeBron when he was at a similar stage of his career. At just 26-years-old, Giannis is a 2x MVP, 5x All-Star, and 1x Defensive Player of the Year.

Adding a Championship (and potentially Finals MVP) alongside that will make it pretty hard to deny him the crown.

Of course, the job is not yet finished. With Game 6 on Tuesday, Giannis still has one more game to win before he can claim anything.

We’ll see soon enough if he can get the job done.
