NBA Rumors: Philadelphia 76ers Are Interested In Landing Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard is a player who has played with the Portland Trail Blazers for his entire career. Everyone knows about his ability as a superstar, and there is no doubt that if he ever put in a trade request, the Portland Trail Blazers would certainly get a lot of phone calls from other franchises.

A recent report from Chris Haynes suggested that Damian Lillard could potentially ask for a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers. If he does so, then it seems as if the Philadelphia 76ers could be a team that would want to target him. A recent article by Kevin O’Connor mentions that league sources believe the 76ers would be interested in Damian Lillard.

There’s also Ben Simmons, the Sixers All-Star who spends nearly all of his off time in Los Angeles and would add a much-needed playmaking dimension to the Clippers. But regardless of the other pieces involved in a potential deal, would Leonard want to team up with Simmons after the latter’s disastrous postseason? Is that a deal the Sixers would want to make, when league sources say they’re also hoping for an opportunity to land Lillard?

The context for this quote is a potential team-up of Kawhi Leonard and Ben Simmons in Los Angeles. However, O’Connor questions whether the 76ers would want to trade Simmons to Los Angeles, given their interest in Damian Lillard. Simmons would certainly be the centerpiece in any trade for Lillard, given his talent and All-Star status. A team-up of Joel Embiid and Damian Lillard would give the 76ers a dominant duo in Philadelphia, and perhaps the 76ers will have an opportunity to trade for Lillard in the future.
