Emmanuel Acho Says He Would Rather Have Scottie Pippen’s Career Over Kevin Durant’s Career

Scottie Pippen and Kevin Durant made headlines last week after the Chicago Bulls legend compared the Brooklyn Nets superstar to LeBron James, saying the King was a better team player than Durant.

KD didn’t like that and replied on Twitter, as he always does. It didn’t take long for the NBA community to react to this and start comparing the two players. The KD vs. Pippen narrative made it to TV, and analyst started discussing it.

Former NFL player-turned-analyst Emmanuel Acho was one of those. He sided with Pippen on this one, calling him the greatest Robin of all time. Further, he added that being the greatest Robin ever is a lot better than being another Batman.

“We would always rather be the greatest Robin of all-time than just another Batman.”

As always, NBA Twitter had something to say about this. Some agreed with Acho picking Pippen, while others went off on him and blasted him for comparing a generational talent like Durant to a sidekick like Scottie.

The “Robin” with 2 FMVPs >>> that’s the greatest Robin ever then 😂

Give me KD’s career. Forget the Batman and Robin aspect. KD never had to fight to get the money he felt he deserved.

Add the fact he has rings AND he’s arguably a top 5 all time scorer in the league shouldn’t even make this a debate. But I’m just a guy. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

But he isn’t just another Batman. He is one of the top 15 players all time. Borderline top 10. By far I would rather have Durants career. He was the engine that made great teams go. Pippen was amazing. But he relies on Jordan. There are trucks. There are trailers. KD is a truck

I agree for now but wanna see the back end of durant’s career before we speak so definitively

To be fair, KD was the Pippen to Curry’s Batman for his only titles. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I would take Scottie Pippen over Kevin Durant any day, if Pippen was the big dog in a team it would be a Kevin Durant now a days. I doubt very much it would work the same way the other way around. They are similar players but Pippen know his roll

I mean is scottie pippen the greatest robin or just a great robin to the greatest Batman? I mean dwayne wade was a robin to LeBron but was also able to be a Batman unlike Pippen. Kobe was robin to shaqs Batman in early 2000s and Kobe later went on to be Batman as well.

— Freaking about Football (@FreakyPeezy) June 26, 2021

without the greatest batman there would be no greatest robin everyone cant be an adam west or michael keaton

— Michael John (@MJ41586) June 25, 2021

The Bulls would not have won 6 titles without Pippen. The Warriors could have won without KD. I agree with Acho that Pippen has had a better career. More impactful and successful.

100%. Reality is KD, ring wise, has underperformed. He had to go to Steph Curry and one of the greatest teams of all time to get it done. KD needs to win a couple more with an alpha (like Harden) or at least one more (with a good cast) to stamp it.

They just let anybody talk hoop on tv now. No slight to Scottie but this is one of the worst takes I’ve heard.

KD’s career is not over yet. He just finished his first season back after an ACL injury, playing great basketball. However, until he doesn’t win a championship with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green by his side, people will trash him. It’s not like KD loses his sleep over that, but he’s competing to get more silverware.

Until that moment, fans will see him as a fake champion, which is why a lot of them believe being a Pippen is better than being a Durant.
