Kyle Lowry Says Zach LaVine Is Underappreciated: “He’s An All-Star. People Don’t Understand Just How Good He Really, Really Is.”

Kyle Lowry has high praise for Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine. The young shooting guard is one of the most exciting players in the NBA, yet people seem to overlook him most of the time.

Playing with two losing squads in Minnesota and Chicago, LaVine hasn’t really had the chance to showcase all his talent on a team above .500. This doesn’t mean the player is bad, but he doesn’t receive the same attention as other young stars like Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, or Ben Simmons.

Lowry, in contrast, is a big fan of Zach and recently named him the most underappreciated player in the association. Talking on Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum’s “Pull Up with CJ McCollum” podcast (via Clutch Points), the new Miami Heat point guard explained the issue with LaVine.

“I’m gonna say Zach Lavine,” Lowry said. “He’s one of them players in the NBA. He’s an All-Star. People don’t understand just how good he really, really is.”

This year, the Chicago Bulls have a big chance to compete in the East. After an entertaining offseason, the team is ready to have a deep playoff run, although the job won’t be easy. The East is stacked this upcoming season, and the Bulls need to work hard to become serious competitors.

Still, having LaVine on the roster is good for them. Even CJ McCollum predicted an exciting season for the former Slam Dunk contest champion.

“I like Zach a lot,” McCollum said. “Big year for him. They have a nice little situation over there in Chicago.”

The picture is promising for Chicago. They have a nice group of players to compete. Still, time will tell if the additions of Lonzo Ball, DeMar DeRozan, and Alex Caruso mesh well with LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and co.
