Muggsy Bogues On Pickup Games During Space Jam Filming: “I Would Watch, And It Was Something Exciting And Intense Games Going On Over There.”

The long-awaited sequel of Space Jam is right around the corner. This time, instead of Michael Jordan teaming up with Bugs Bunny to try and save us from the Monstars, it’ll be LeBron James the one in charge of leading the way.

For years, people speculated whether there was actually going to be a sequel for this legendary film. Some claimed that you could never top the first edition, and that’s why it was so great to find out that the second part was in the works.

Nonetheless, some current NBA players didn’t feel the same way, as the story says that multiple superstars like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Stephen Curry respectfully declined LeBron’s invitation to join them on the set as they looked to preserve their bodies during the summer.

That didn’t happen back in the day. Charles Barkley, Shawn Bradley, Larry Johnson, Patrick Ewing, and Muggsy Bogues didn’t hesitate to join the film, leading up to some legendary pick-up games between scenes while Jordan got ready for the upcoming NBA season:

“I didn’t play, I had surgery. I would watch, and it was something exciting and intense games going on over there. The boys had fun, they created this nice tent for Michael and the addition, where he had his weights and as well a little driving range where he can hit his golf ball. So it was exciting,” Bogues confessed during an interview.

Those legendary pick-up games would go on for hours, with Michael Jordan schooling the younger players and working on his craft as he orchestrated his comeback.

Jordan would eventually pick up things where he left them before retiring from the NBA for the first time, coming back to dominate and win three straight championships with the Chicago Bulls before walking away from the game again.
