Andre Drummond On His Move To The Lakers: “My Role Here Is A Lot Different Than Previous Teams I’ve Been On.”

The Los Angeles Lakers are on a mission to repeat as NBA Champions. If LeBron James and Anthony Davis come back healthy, it’s certainly possible, some would say likely, that they complete that mission.

But if that is to be the case, they’ll need their newest acquisition, Andre Drummond, to play up to expectations as a difference-maker for the team.

It’s still too early to determine what kind of value he has for L.A., but — at the very least — he seems to have the right mindset about it, as he has embraced his new role with the team.

“Definitely my role here is a lot different than previous teams I’ve been on,” Drummond said after Monday’s game, via Larry Brown Sports. “Me being on Cleveland and Detroit, they look for me to be the main guy to score points and do all the other intangible things.

“And while I’m here, I’m here to just make this team good on both ends of the court. Whatever they need me to do, I’m trying to get the job done. I’m adjusting very well. It’s taking some time but I’m figuring it out day in and day out.”

For a guy that was the main guy in Detroit and Cleveland, it must be tough to become a supporting piece in L.A. Nevertheless, it seems that Dre has embraced his role in Los Angles, which will obviously bode well for the team’s chemistry going forward.

If he can play his role, and do his job on the court, it will be huge to the Lakers’ title hopes.

This season, he’s averaging 16.2 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game on 47.2% shooting.
