The Philadelphia 76ers are a team that is a true contender for the NBA championship. They are being led by MVP candidate Joel Embiid and a DPOY candidate in Ben Simmons. Joel Embiid has reached another gear this season and is dominating the league at the center position. The 76ers are currently the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and look poised for a good playoff run.

There are championship expectations for the 76ers this year. They are no longer a developing team and are now full-fledged contenders. The team itself has definitely made some win-now moves and has surrounded Joel Embiid with some veterans who will help during the playoffs. 76ers star Ben Simmons has recently stated that he fully believes this is the year the 76ers win an NBA Championship. Tyler R. Tynes reported on Simmons’ words.

If we get that No. 1 seed, we keep our hopes up in terms of the energy. Knowing we’d have home court advantage would be big for us, especially if we get the fans all back. Our record at home has been pretty good, it’s always been good the last few years being able to be home. I think this is the year for us to do it, honestly

Win the championship. I genuinely believe that. I feel like there’s been years where guys would’ve said it on the Sixers, but I don’t think we really believed it. But, I genuinely think this is the year.

The 76ers certainly have the tools to win an NBA championship, as they have a transcendent superstar and an elite supporting cast. They’re playoff-tested, and of course, they’ve fallen short before. However, this year could be different for the 76ers, and they are still the best team in the East record-wise. Perhaps Ben Simmons’ prediction will come true, and we’ll see a championship head to Philadelphia.
