Lonzo Ball was one of the biggest names that were in trade rumors prior to the NBA trade deadline. Lonzo Ball will be a free agent at the end of the season, which led to some speculation that the New Orleans Pelicans would trade him prior to the trade deadline. That obviously hasn’t happened, and Lonzo Ball is still a Pelican.

Recently, David Griffin has stated that Lonzo Ball wants to stay with the New Orleans Pelicans. The New Orleans Pelicans have the ability to match any deal that Lonzo Ball receives due to his status as a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Lonzo Ball has made it through the trade deadline, so it does seem as though the Pelicans want him there.

Lonzo Ball potentially staying with the Pelicans after this season will be crucial to their future. Lonzo Ball is an elite facilitator, whose game meshes perfectly with those of Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. Every team needs a point guard who can run the offense next to some scorers, and Lonzo Ball fits that role perfectly.

Lonzo Ball is currently teammates with one of the premier prospects in the game, Zion Williamson. Zion Williamson could be a future superstar, and playing with him could mean future success. Lonzo Ball is in a good situation right now, and him potentially staying in New Orleans could be the perfect move.
