The San Antonio Spurs have had many elite players in their team history: Tim Duncan is widely known as the greatest power forward of all-time, and his co-stars Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili helped him create one of the best dynasties in the league. David Robinson is a two-time NBA champion and one-time MVP, who helped Tim Duncan get his first championship. More recently, Kawhi Leonard, DeMar DeRozan, and LaMarcus Aldridge were all All-Stars who played for the San Antonio Spurs. The San Antonio Spurs have had a consistent influx of talent throughout the years, and it shows in their winning record.

It is obvious that is players are the ones who drive winning, but one has to respect the savvy moves that the San Antonio Spurs have done to help them remain competitive. One has to remember that Kawhi Leonard – George Hill trade, which netted them one of the NBA’s best current superstars. Eventually, even though Kawhi Leonard got traded from the San Antonio Spurs, they still managed to get an All-Star in DeMar DeRozan in return. Savvy trades are often what keeps a franchise ahead of the pack.

Aside from trading for good players, the San Antonio Spurs have also had an elite drafting history. Their drafting history has included home runs when given a high pick (Tim Duncan), some solid players at the end of the first round (Dejounte Murray), and even some second-round draft steals (Manu Ginobili). We have seen franchises get high draft pick after high draft pick, and still be in rebuilding mode throughout the years. The San Antonio Spurs are an example of how much of a change good management can make.

The San Antonio Spurs have been one of the best franchises in the NBA due to their ability to identify talent and get the best out of them. Many players have credited Coach Gregg Popovich for improving their game, and he is widely known as one of the greatest coaches of all-time.
