Joel Embiid has had an MVP caliber season for the Philadelphia 76ers. Joel Embiid is currently averaging 30.0 PPG and 11.3 RPG, and the Philadelphia 76ers are the first seed in the Eastern Conference. Joel Embiid is directly winning games due to his dominance and is showing the world that the center position isn’t dead. The Philadelphia 76ers knew that they were selecting a potential future franchise centerpiece when they picked Embiid, and he has proven that they were right.

Recently, Kendrick Perkins has stated that if he had to start a franchise today, the player that he would build around is Joel Embiid. Kendrick Perkins has compared Joel Embiid to Hakeem Olajuwon and pointed out all the things that make Embiid an amazing franchise centerpiece.

If you ask me what Player I’m taking today to start a franchise with, it would be Joel “Big Philly” Embiid!!! He is a 275 pound Hakeem Olajuwon with a lil more drip. Carry the hell on… https://t.co/PKAgmt6WNx

Joel Embiid is certainly a player that one can build a franchise around: the Philadelphia 76ers have given him the keys to the franchise, and he is showing that he can be an MVP-caliber player like Hakeem Olajuwon. Kendrick Perkins mentions that Joel Embiid is still 26: which also makes him an appealing candidate to build a franchise around. Joel Embiid is a unique player, and can definitely lead a roster.

While there are other talented players around the league, it makes sense that Kendrick Perkins would pick a big man and one who looks unstoppable. Joel Embiid is an amazing player, and he has a lot left in his career.
