Giannis Antetokounmpo Fires Back At Kendrick Perkins’ Criticism

It’s not a secret that Giannis Antetokounmpo has been favored by the media over the past couple of years. Not to take anything away from him or his MVP seasons, but the narratives have often been in his favor even since before the start of the season.

Lately, however, it seems like the reigning MVP isn’t getting the same kind of love he got before signing his massive contract extension. For many, it’s time for him to step up in the playoffs and prove that he can lead a team when it matters the most. For others, he’s just overrated.

That seems to be the case with former player turned analyst Kendrick Perkins. Perk fired yet another of his countless hot takes a couple of days ago, claiming that Toronto Raptors’ forward/center Pascal Siakam was actually more skilled than Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Siakam is more skilled than Giannis!!! Don’t @ me

Needless to say, that unpopular opinion raised a lot of eyebrows around the league, not only because Siakam has regressed since the bubble but also because we’re talking about a two-time MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Those comments didn’t go unnoticed by the Greek Freak either, as it didn’t take long before he fired back at Perkins’ hot take by showcasing his skillset, posting a highlight clip from his victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, and simply captioning it: Skills.

Yes, Giannis makes the most of his damage thanks to his physical traits, strength, and athleticism but that doesn’t mean he’s not skilled. He’s worked on almost every aspect of his game since entering the league and has progressed on a yearly basis.

Still, Giannis will continue to be called out and pointed unless he finally gets over the hump and leads the Milwaukee Bucks to the NBA Finals but maybe we should stop acting like he’s 34 years already. He’s just 26.
