Bill Russell, Dwyane Wade And Other NBA Athletes React To Violence At U.S. Capitol

When Congress met on Capitol Hill today, at 1 pm Eastern, it was supposed to be nothing more than a count of the electoral votes that will make Joe Biden the next President of the United States.

Instead, pro-Trump protesters got in the way, storming the building and raiding the capitol in a scary and unprecedented move. With reports of violence and mayhem, there have been calls from people all across the country for these ridiculous and dangerous acts to be put to an end — including some people from the NBA.

Bill Russell, Dwyane Wade, and Kevin Love spoke their mind on Twitter.

An absolute disgrace what’s happening at the US Capitol right now. And a blatant example of inequity in how law enforcement chooses to deal with those involved. 🗑🗑🗑

How long would it take to deploy the National Guard if they were black & how many would be dead? This is NOT#America! A sitting #President did this @realDonaldTrump #Coward & yes that is a #Confederate flag outside the Senate chamber. How did they not know this would happen? pic.twitter.com/MNgFZIthJ2

Black people get pulled over and don’t make it out alive. We can’t sleep in our own beds without being killed. We can’t jog without being killed. We can’t walk down the street with our hoodies up without being killed but they can do this??? https://t.co/j59OMKw4LO

I scan my timeline and keep seeing the word “embarrassing.” I’m not embarrassed, I’m not surprised, or shocked even. Embarrassed would mean that I feel a sense of shame by what is going on. I have no such feeling. These people do not come close to being a representation of me 🤷🏾‍♂️

Needless to say, it’s a difficult time for the U.S. right now and all eyes are glued on the tv until this whole thing plays out.
