Kendrick Perkins On Jaylen Brown: “Jaylen Brown Is The Best Player On The Boston Celtics.”

Jaylen Brown was one of the many bright spots during the Boston Celtics’ 2019-20 NBA season. Brown eclipsed the 20.0 PPG mark for the first time last season, and when one looks at his amazing defense as well, we can see that Jaylen Brown is an elite two-way player. Brown looks like a star for the foreseeable future and he has continued his tear during the 2021 NBA season. Brown is averaging 28.0 PPG through the first 5 games and doesn’t look to be slowing down.

Some analysts, like former Celtic Kendrick Perkins, are already singing praises about the elite guard. To many people, fellow Celtics star Jayson Tatum is the best player on the team. Tatum can play either forward position and create for himself. He’s a great player, but Kendrick Perkins claims that Jaylen Brown is better, even though Perkins himself is a fan of Tatum.

Perkins believes that Brown’s offensive prowess comes from his versatility. Perkins is right in the sense that Brown is a great all-around player. Brown has a great scoring package and is a three-level scorer. With Kemba Walker sidelined, and Gordon Hayward leaving for the Hornets, Brown has been forced to take on a bigger offensive load. Brown has obviously done well with the extra usage to start the season, and hopefully, he can continue his massive scoring stretch.

While the jury is out on whether Brown or Tatum is better, perhaps we shouldn’t focus on that. The Celtics have two great two-way wing players who have good chemistry. They have been a mixed bag this season, but with more time to gel, they could be deadly. With Kemba Walker’s return, they could become even better, but the Celtics will still want Brown to have a prominent role on the offensive end, even with the return of their electric point guard.
