It is no secret that Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma has not played up to expectations over the past few years. Upon Anthony Davis’ arrival in the summer of 2019, the Lakers looked to Kuz to be their third guy.

And while the youngster did average a respectable 12.8 points per game, he has had trouble with consistency and efficiency on offense, often leaving fans wanting more.

Despite it all, both sides showed some faith in each other on Sunday, inking a $40 million extension that will keep him in town for three more years.

After the news broke on Twitter, LeBron James responded with some encouraging and congratulatory words for his young teammate.

Kuzma is currently the oldest tenured Laker on the roster, having arrived in 2017 as the 27th pick in the draft. Since then, he has been a favorite among fans.

Now an NBA Champion, Kuz will be called on again to help the Lakers make history for the second straight season. It will be interesting to see what kind of role he plays…
