The Houston Rockets have been on the brink of collapse for the past week, but today’s move could help change their prognosis.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, H-Town has just picked up talented young big man Christian Wood on a 3-year, $41 million deal as part of a sign-and-trade with the Pistons.

Wood wasn’t the sexiest name on the market this offseason, but he brings a lot to the table and can have an immediate impact on his team. Last season, he averaged 13 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game on 56% shooting.
With the Rockets, he will be key in giving them a solid interior presence and, so long as they keep James Harden, should be able to stay somewhat competitive in the West. If they can keep most of their team intact and continue to address major needs, they could be even better than they were last season.
Wood is a good sign for Rockets fans, but James Harden and Russell Westbrook will likely need to see more before they can be convinced.
