Everybody knows that the Miami Heat aren’t satisfied with just another trip to the NBA Finals and that Pat Riley isn’t going to bat an eye until he finds a new star that can take them back to the top of the world.
Either if it’s via trade, free agency, or even through the Draft – as he proved with a huge steal in Precious Achiuwa – Riley is going to do whatever it takes to get as many talents to South Beach as he can, and he usually gets exactly what he wants.
So, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, the Godfather has now set his eyes on Sacramento Kings’ De’Aaron Fox, who might as well be available after they drafted Tyrese Haliburton:
“Even if Giannis doesn’t end up in Miami, odds strong that another really good player joins Heat by start of 2021-22. Even more convinced of that after talking to people this week… Kings’ Fox could become possibility after this Haliburton pick,” Barry Jackson said, as quoted by HoopsHype.

Fox has proven to be a great point guard throughout his young career in the NBA. He’s fast, athletic, a solid playmaker and a great defender, and has a feel for knocking down huge shots in the clutch. But, if the Kings believe that he’s not worthy of a big buck or think Haliburton is better than him, then Riley might swoop in.
The Heat clearly need an upgrade at the point guard position and landing a young gun as Fox would definitely be a step in the right direction, even if he’s not the floor spacer they could use next to Jimmy Butler.
There’s no doubt that Miami will continue to be one of the biggest contenders out of the Eastern Conference as long as Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Tyler Herro are in town, so we’ll have to wait and see what ace Riley has up his sleeve.
