Klay Thompson Suffered A Lower Leg Injury And Will Have To Undergo Further Testing

It seems like Klay Thompson can’t catch a break right now. Just when it looked like he was running and gunning and ready to come back at his former level, the Golden State Warriors star just suffered another major setback in his rehab.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Thompson recently suffered a lower leg injury and will now have to undergo further testing go determine the severity and treatment for it:

“Warriors star Klay Thompson suffered an apparent lower leg injury today and is undergoing tests to determine severity,” Charania said.

Let’s remember that Thompson had to miss the entire 2019-20 season after tearing his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals vs. the Toronto Raptors, which, obviously was a major blow for a Golden State Warriors team that also lost Kevin Durant in free agency.

The Warriors missed the playoffs last season after making it to 5 straight trips to the NBA Finals and Thompson’s injury was one of the biggest reasons for it. Now, everybody was looking forward to watching the Splash Brothers back at full strength.

Hopefully, this injury will be minor and it won’t require surgery, as the Warriors can’t afford to be without Thompson for long, not even if Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are fully healthy or if they draft another guard with the 2nd overall pick of tonight’s Draft.

Thompson was one of the toughest and most durable players in the league. He rarely missed games and even jogged back to the court to take a couple of free-throws with a torn ACL in the NBA Finals, and this is the kind of thing you just never want to see.
