35-year-old Chris Paul re-sparked his career after an inspiring performance in Oklahoma City. In his 15th season, he led an underdog Thunder team to the 5th record in the West as he averaged 17.6 points, 6.7 assists, and 5 rebounds per game on 48.9% shooting.
But now, with the 2020 offseason approaching, there are rumors he could be suiting up with a new team by 2021. According to one report by “Knicks Film School’s” Jonathan Macri, he is itching for relocation to either New York or Los Angeles.
“I’ve been told by a league source that Chris Paul prefers his next basketball home to be either in L.A. or N.Y. (Los Angeles is where he resides full time) and that has created some modicum of leverage in the ongoing negotiations between the sides. I’m also told that there is a deal on the table that is comfortable from Sam Presti’s perspective, and the ball is in Leon Rose’s court.”

Despite his age and the enormity of his contract, Paul still brings a lot to the table at this stage of his career. He’s a proven leader, a big-time shot-maker, and a capable defender.
In both LA and New York, his presence would be welcomed with opened arms — though, for entirely different reasons.
Paul would be an instant boon for the Lakers, who are still looking for an upgrade at the point guard position. Alongside LeBron and Davis, he would thrive getting open looks for others and strengthening an offense that was already lethal.
For the Knickerbockers, Paul would be the first “star” they’ve had since the departure of Kristaps Porzingis. And while CP3 alone wouldn’t be nearly enough to put them over the edge, he would likely represent a beacon of hope for the long-disgraced franchise.
It will be interesting to behold where the veteran guard lands this summer, and if he is able to finally capture that elusive title victory that has evaded him for so long.
