Kyrie Irving Reacts To Kendrick Perkins’ “Bird Brain” Comments, Admits He Was In Dark Place At That Time

Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving has finally opened up about Kendrick Perkins’ comments about his ‘lack of leadership’. Back in June, Perk took a big shot at Kyrie and the player has admitted he was in a ‘dark place’ during that time. Irving wasn’t convinced with the idea of the league resuming play in the Orlando bubble and that earned him a lot of criticism, including Perk, who went off on the point guard for his attitude.

“If you take Kyrie Irving’s brain and put it in a bird right now, guess what that bird is going to do,” Perkins said. “It’s going to fly backwards because Kyrie right now is confused, he’s showing his lack of leadership. Here it is: Kyrie, you have been on these conference calls over the last two months. You’re the vice president of the Players Association. You have been very involved in all this that’s taking place as far as whether we’re going to play or not. You’ve been on the phone and you voted to play!”

During a recent interview on Kevin Durant’s new podcast ‘The ETCs,’ Irving acknowledged those comments, admitting he didn’t feel offended or anything since he respects Perkins and his opinion has some value for him.

It looks like no matter what he does, Kyrie will always get criticized. He made some comments about KD being the first teammate he could see and say ‘he can make the last shot, too’ and everybody went crazy, assuming he was taking a shot at LeBron James. This season will be huge for Irving; the Nets have high expectations and with their two superstars fully healthy and a new head coach in Steve Nash, the picture looks very promising for them.
