The 2008 Boston Celtics In 2020: Where Are They Know?

I can’t believe it’s been twelve years since the Boston Celtics last won an NBA Championship, especially considering how much things have changed ever since around the league.

The game is played at a different pace with another kind of strategy and more importantly, even the personalities of the players are quite different from what they were just over a decade ago, crazy as it may seem.

Moreover, Twitter user @MjsGoat recently pointed out how much the tables have turned recently for the 2008 NBA Champions Boston Celtics, as none of them seem to be thriving or much of a fan favorite right now.

While this opinion may be kind of rough and biased, MJsGoat may have a valid point here. That’s why today, we’re going to talk about that 2008 Boston Celtics team and where are they know:

Doc Rivers – Fired From The Los Angeles Clippers

(via Bleacher Report)

The Los Angeles Clippers exploded towards the end of the season. It seemed like they never got along and Doc Rivers wasn’t actually in control of the group. Also, Paul George’s presence and struggles were a subject of controversies in the locker room and Rivers ended up picking up the tab.

The Clippers let Doc Rivers go following yet another blown 3-1 lead in the playoffs. They were the most stacked and overpowered team in the league and, not to take anything away from the Denver Nuggets, they should have easily won that series. He’ll find a job pretty soon, though.

Paul Pierce – NBA Analyst

(via Sporting News)

Even though Paul Pierce goes by the name of ‘The Truth’, he hasn’t been speaking much of that lately. In fact, he’s been infamous around the league for jinxing a lot of teams and it seems like all his predictions happen the exact opposite way.

Pierce has had his fair share of controversial statements during his days as an analyst, from admitting that he needed to use the toilet when he left on a wheel-chair in the Finals to saying that he had a better career than Dwyane Wade and that LeBron James wasn’t a top-5 player All-Time, we’ve heard it all lately.

Kevin Garnett – Retired

(via MassLive.com)

Kevin Garnett is living his life at the fullest after retirement. He had a show on NBA TV called KG Area 21 but that didn’t last too long. He then made a cameo on Adam Sandler’s Uncut Gems and is now reportedly trying to buy the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Garnett has made it clear that he intends to own an NBA Franchise rather sooner than later and even brought up the idea of bringing the Seattle Supersonics back. He’s also fired a couple of hot takes about how his era was better and more competitive than this one.

Ray Allen – Retired

(via The New York Times)

Ray Allen played a huge role in the Boston Celtics’ 2008 Championship run. He was the third wheel of that dominant Big 3 and that’s why the media, fans, and players were so shocked to see him join the Miami Heat, which were the Celtics’ biggest threat in the Eastern Conference.

Allen and the 2008 Boston Celtics have been through a lot of back-and-forths ever since and he wasn’t even invited to the team’s reunion a couple of years ago. There’s clearly some anger between all parties involved and that’s not likely to change any time soon.

Rajon Rondo – Playing For The Los Angeles Lakers

(via Sportsnaut)

Rajon Rondo committed the ultimate sin. After bouncing around the league for a while, Rondo actually signed for the Los Angeles Lakers despite being a fan-favorite in the TD Garden. Lakers fans don’t seem to like him either, but his contributions in the playoffs have been great.

As a matter of fact, should Rondo win the ring with the Los Angeles Lakers this season, he’d become the first player in NBA history to ever win an NBA Championship with both the Boston Celtics and them, even if Celtics’ fans vanish him for life.

Kendrick Perkins – NBA Analyst

(via Total Pro Sports)

Kendrick Perkins has become infamous around the NBA community for his hot takes and constantly lauding LeBron James, who was one of the Heat’s biggest rivals. Perkins constantly voices his opinion and doesn’t always check all the facts. The other day he even said that Jordan wasn’t competing at age 35, even though Jordan actually won a ring at that age.

Perkins doesn’t seem to care about what people think, though. He’s taken shots at his former teammate Kevin Durant, he’s leaking alleged information from teams, you name it. He doesn’t care if players or people dislike him as long as he’s getting enough attention.
