De’Aaron Fox To Demand A Max Contract Extension From The Sacramento Kings

Ever since he made it to the league three seasons ago, De’Aaron Fox made it clear that he’s one of the best prospects on earth, even if he’s been unable to turn around the Sacramento Kings.

So, now that he’s eligible for a 5-year max contract, the UK product has made it clear to the franchise that he’ll be looking for a lot of money this offseason and won’t take any kind of discounts, according to NBC Sports:

“Fox is eligible for a 5-year max money contract worth between $150-180M. Don’t expect a discounted rate. He will ask for and likely get whatever the maximum is,” reads the report.

De’Aaron Fox will be seeking a max contract extension from the Sacramento Kings this offseason, per NBC Sports

Some people think Fox isn’t worthy of a max deal of yet because of how much the Sacramento Kings have struggled. Apparently, they believe a player should be able to lead his team before his payday.

That logic makes sense but to put that kind of responsibility on him given how poorly managed the Kings have been for years it’s not fair.

We’re talking about a team that could have paired him with Luka Doncic and choose to draft Marvin Bagley III instead, and they still had a shot – even if it was a long shot – to make the playoffs this season.

Throughout his young career, Fox has posted averages of 16.2 points, 6.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game and is coming off career bests all across the stat-sheet. This decision may come back to bite them a couple of years from now but as of today, they should roll the dice and pay the young man.
