Lonzo Ball and De’Aaron Fox have always been tied to each other. They faced each other in college, they were a part of the same Draft, and they both had fathers with something to say about their rivals’ performances.

  • Trade Package:
  • Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, 13th overall pick in 2020 NBA Draft, a future first-round pick for De’Aaron Fox.

Then again, Ball and Fox have had quite some different careers thus far. Lonzo got to know the perks and demands of being a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and share the court with LeBron James. Fox is yet to play with a star of LeBron’s caliber but his performances have done all the talking for him thus far.

Ball’s performances in the bubble, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired, up to the point where people are speculating whether he’s the New Orleans Pelican’s point guard for the future.

So, with all that chatter surrounding the former 2nd overall pick, could you imagine him and De’Aaron Fox swapping places? Most people think the Pelicans would fare way better with Swipa running the show for them.

If you’re the Kings you should at least consider this move. There’s still plenty of chances that Lonzo turns out to be a great point guard and even if he’s not, he’s already an elite defender and great playmaker. You’re also getting a solid role player in Josh Hart that could give you the flexibility to try and move Buddy Hield or Bogdan Bogdanovic for more assets.

The Kings aren’t going to be competing for a playoff spot any time soon, even if Marvin Bagley III turns out to be as good as Vlade Divac wants us to think he’ll be, so this move could make some sense for them.

As for the Pelicans, Fox’s playing style is a perfect fit next to Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram. He can run up and down the court in a heartbeat, is a willing defender, and has proven to be a competitor and winner thus far, knocking down several clutch shots throughout his young career.
