Joel Embiid: ‘Sixers Will Be Champions This Year Thanks To Their Defense And Shooters’

The Philadelphia 76ers are among the most talented teams in the NBA, but even for all their might, strength, and flashiness on the basketball court, they remain a team that falls short of expectations.

This year especially, after finishing 6th in the East, it seems the Sixers are doing more talking than they’ve been able to support with their play on the court.

But if you ask their star big man (Joel Embiid), he’ll tell you that his team is poised for a strong finish this season because of their “defense and shooting.”

The quote came in an appearance by Embiid on the “Rights to Ricky Sanchez Podcast,” in which he talked about a number of different topics including his first game, how he wished Butler and JJ had come back, his knee injury in the 2019 postseason, and Ben’s improving jump shot.

Nobody can blame Embiid for giving his team the benefit of the doubt. He clearly has faith in his squad and their ability to bounce back this season, despite all the struggles.

Perhaps most encouraging, though, is Embiid’s faith in his co-star Simmons, whom he said he wants to play with for the rest of his career.

Needless to say, the Sixers are very talented and they pose a threat to each and every team in the league. But at the end of the day, their performance will come down to how they play together when it matters most. Regardless of what happens, it will be an interesting thing to witness.
