Russell Westbrook Shares Pics Of Player-Inspired Social Justice T-Shirts

NBA players were reportedly unsatisfied with the list of approved social justice message the NBA gave them for the resumption of the season, as they felt like they should have had a saying in the proposed messages. Therefore, some of them decided to skip this tribute and will instead wear their regular jerseys.

That’s why the NBA Players Association partnered with Russell Westbrook’s clothing line to create some player-inspired social justice t-shirts to wear during warmups and while walking around the Disney campus.

So, it didn’t take the former MVP long before he shared some of these shirts in social media, as well as a statement from his company:

“Honor the Gift is extremely proud to collaborate with the NBPA to create a collection of shirts that allow us players to shed light on social injustice, and honor the victims and families of those who continue to inspire us,” Westbrook tweeted along with a snap of some of the t-shirts.

We honor, Strange Fruit, Equality, Am I Next? By Any Means, Power 2 The People, I Can’t Breath, Systemic Racism, Police Reform, Break The Cycle, and No Justice No Peace were the messages Westbrook shared in the preview.

Russell Westbrook has always been quite outspoken about the social causes he supports and the NBA community as a whole agreed to resume play as long as they felt like they could keep the focus on the issues that matter the most during these conflicted times.

Unlike most major leagues, the NBA has once again stepped up to give their players a platform to voice their concerns.
