The absence of Avery Bradley was considered a big blow to the Lakers. And though they brought in veteran sharpshooter J.R. Smith to replace him, there are concerns about how his loss will impact the team.
To make matters worse, it was recently announced that point guard Rajon Rondo will also miss time with a broken thumb injury. Shams Charania was the first to report it.
Lakers guard Rajon Rondo has suffered a fractured right thumb, will undergo surgery and is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks.

Rondo wasn’t a major rotation player for L.A., but for a roster that was already short on guards, his injury really strains the rotation in the backcourt.
LeBron is expected to continue handling point guard duties but without Rondo, it seems Alex Caruso will be carrying the load off the bench for the second unit.
No word yet has been passed on if the Lakers plan on bringing anyone else in or what their future with Rondo may entail. But they’re going to need all hands on deck for this title run in Orlando, especially without another one of their guards.
This season, Rondo is averaging 7 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds per game on 41.8% shooting.
