Three Cavaliers Players Thought LeBron James Would Be Just A Role Player

When LeBron James landed in the Cleveland Cavaliers, he took the world by storm, changing things around for the Cavs, making them a competitive team that was always part of the contenders after Bron became the leader of the team. He was the most hyped prospect in the league in recent times, but not everybody was convinced he could do big things for the Cavs, not even his own teammates.

Ahead of the 2003 NBA draft, three Cavaliers players shared their thoughts of LeBron, revealing they didn’t believe the King was going to be that good or important for them.

“We have a better player than him in his position already on our team,” said Carlos Boozer.

“I thought [LeBron] was coming in to help give me the ball,” Ricky Davis is rumored to have said.

Another player made the biggest comments, trying to play down the comments suggesting LeBron was going to be the next big thing in the NBA.

“You can’t bring in a high school player and expect him to turn a team around,” Darius Miles exclaimed.

Well, in the end, LeBron took the Cavs to the 2007 Finals, where they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs. James made that team a competitive one and even though he didn’t win a title there during his first stint, he surely turned things around.

After joining the Miami Heat and returning to Cleveland in 2014, LeBron took the team to the promised land in 2016, doing something that Boozer, Davis and Miles never did. The high school kid turned out to be better than anyone believed.
