Chris Broussard: “You Kids Just Don’t Know How Good MJ Was With The Wizards”

“The Last Dance” documentary highlighted the peak of MJ’s career. At the height of his powers (1991-1998), he won six titles and four NBA MVPs in eight seasons.

After his second retirement from the Bulls in ’98 things would never be the same, but it doesn’t mean MJ was no good. NBA analyst Chris Broussard was kind enough to remind us all just how darn good he was.

“In his 2 seasons in Washington, Jordan had 8 games in which he scored 40 or more while shooting 50%. To put that into perspective, Kawhi has 6 and Jimmy Butler has 5 in their careers,” Broussard said. “Jordan averaged 22.9 and 20 points per game during his first and second season with the Wizards respectively.”

“Think Michael Jordan was no good in Washington? Think again. You kids just don’t know how good MJ was with the Wizards.”

During his stint with the Wizards, MJ averaged 21 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists on 43% shooting. He was the face and leader of the team, though their success on the court was limited.

They finished 37-45 in 2002 and 2003 — and failed to make the playoffs both years. Still, nobody can deny his greatness, even during those years. Good on Broussard to give us all a reminder.
