Back in 2015, after spending the last four years in Miami, LeBron James announced his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The first year of the King with the Cavs saw him team up with a young guard Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, leading the team to the Finals that year.
That was the first year Bron faced the Warriors in the Finals, a young team that looked set to dominate the NBA, which they did. That season, Steph Curry won his first of two MVP awards. He averaged 23.8 points, 7.7 assists, and 2 steals per game, leading the Warriors to win 67 games in the Western Conference.
Both teams reached the Finals that year. It was all set, the biggest question was which team was going to win it all, LeBron and his Cavs or the young, promising Warriors led by Curry? They were two unstoppable forces, as Bron himself admitted when talking about Steph prior to the Finals.
LeBron was asked, “How do you slow down Steph Curry?” To which he replied, “The same way you slow me down… you can’t.”
He was later asked about Curry’s dominance on the court, replying, “You always have to be aware of him.”
It looks like Bron could see the future since Steph was unstoppable against the Cavaliers. Curry posted 26 points and 6.3 assists per game as the Warriors beat the Cavs in six games. Many believed he was the rightful Finals MVP, but the league gave the prize to Andre Iguodala, who had a great series, curiously, mostly slowing down LeBron.
After that series, the Warriors’ dominance started. They went to play in four more Finals adding two titles two their honors.
