These aren’t good times for Denver Nuggets rookie Michael Porter Jr. after he tweeted a controversial message that got him under fire. After footage surfaced showing four police officers involved in the death of an African-American man, George Floyd. Current and former NBA players showed their repulse towards the incident and called the authorities to give justice to the family of Mr. Floyd.

Players like LeBron James, Jaylen Brown and Rudy Gobert spoke out about the matter, blasting the police officers involved in the case and the people who let them go away with this atrocity.

Porter Jr., though, took a different approach to the incident, asking people to pray for the police officers so they can ‘change their hearts’.

“As much as you pray for George family, gotta also pray for the police officer(s) who were involved in this evil. As hard as it is, pray for them instead of hate them…Pray that God changes their hearts,” he wrote on Twitter.

Those words didn’t sit well around the NBA community since players started blasting Porter for his tweet.

2003 NBA champion Stephen Jackson, who was a close friend of Floyd, also went after Porter, praying for all the cops involved in the death of his friend to get jailed.

This is a sensitive topic and Porter didn’t pick the right words or the time to send his tweets. The US is living complex times right now and people keep raising their voices against these incidents. Porter had a different point of view of the situation and people made him pay for that.
