Paul Pierce and LeBron James don’t like each other. They never have and they never will. However, sometimes it feels like Pierce lefts his hatred cloud his judgment when talking about the King.
He recently claimed that LeBron is by no means a top-5 player in NBA history because he has never built up an organization for the ground (Hello, Cleveland Cavaliers, anybody?), unlike some legends of the game like Kareem, Russell, Magic, or Jordan:
“What has LeBron did to build up any organization from the ground? I’m talking about these players, top-5 players. Bill Russell built the organization of Boston, Kareem, Magic, Jordan, Tim Duncan, Kobe, Bird. These guys are all-time top 10 players who helped build their organization or continued the tradition,” Pierce said.
Needless to say, that caused a bit of a reaction online but once again, the former Celtics’ great didn’t back down on his stance. The truth doubled-down on his take and took it to Twitter to address his haters for it. According to Pierce, all the guys he named were a part of a dynasty, something LeBron has never done thus far on his career:
All the people I named where part of a dynasty 🤷🏾♂️#6 Shaq #7 Duncan

We get it, Pierce, you dislike LeBron James. You’re entitled to that, as both battled in the Eastern Conference for years. Hell, you don’t even need to be a fan of the guy to acknowledge his greatness.
LeBron James has put together one of the strongest resumes in sports history. He may have lacked the three-peat part, but making it to 8 straight NBA Finals should at least count as a dynasty of his own if you will.
At the end of the day, everybody’s entitled to their own opinion and top-5 ranking but we can’t help to feel that there’s a little bit too much bias this time.
