NBA Rumors: Knicks Could Trade Julius Randle, Frank Ntilikina, And A 2020 First-Round Pick For Devin Booker

2 Min Read

The struggles of the New York Knicks aren’t exactly a secret to anyone in the NBA community. It’s been more than 20 years since the Knicks last made a Finals appearance, and they don’t appear on track to change that trend anytime soon.

But, according to Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, the Knicks are considering an option that may result in the acquisition of a major young star.

Knicks Receive: G Devin Booker

Suns Receive: 2020 first-round pick, PF Julius Randle, G Frank Ntilikina

Booker is a phenomenal young scorer, but the Phoenix Suns have yet to see a winning season in five years with him on the team.

New York is desperate for a star, so much so that trading its first-rounder for someone who can step into that role right away would be worth it. Phoenix probably only considers this deal if the Knicks land one of the top two picks in the 2020 draft, giving the Suns the chance at either Anthony Edwards or LaMelo Ball.

Of course, any deal that land the Knicks a young, promising scoring star is worth it and Devin Booker definitely fits the bill in that regard. He’s still just 23-years-old, is coming off his first All-Star appearance, and is a career 22-point per game scorer.

In return, the Suns get two players (Randle and Ntilkina) to stick in their rotation and the chance to draft a major franchise piece in either LaMelo or Edwards. It might not be ideal to trade such a good, young player, but the Suns have been stuck in limbo for quite some time now and a deal like this might help them reset.

Needless to say, it’s worthy of consideration on both sides.
