Former Detroit Pistons center Bill Laimbeer returned to the headlines on Tuesday, bringing some controversy to the league amid the coronavirus crisis. Laimbeer joined ESPN’s First Take to discuss several topics, but the most interesting one was who is the real GOAT in basketball. For Laimbeer, the response is clear, as he went with LeBron James over Michael Jordan.
“I’m very vocal, I think LeBron is the best player that’s ever played the game. He’s six foot eight, 285 pounds, runs like the wind and jumps out of the gym and, more importantly, when he came in the league, from day one, he knew how to involve his teammates to win — and that’s something that Jordan had to learn for a long time.”
Laimbeer and Jordan clashed several times during the postseason with their Pistons and Bulls. There was a big rivalry between the two franchises and people started to think these words have something to do with it.
For instance, Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus, replied to Laimbeer, taking a big shot at the 62-year-old WNBA coach.

“All I see is salt lol ,” Marcus wrote on Twitter.
The rivalry between the ‘Bad Boys’ and the Chicago Bulls of Jordan is well known. Those guys didn’t like each other and it could be that such disdain for their rivals hasn’t disappeared yet. MJ is in everybody’s mouths recently, as his docuseries ‘The Last Dance’ is set to debut this Sunday.
Everybody wants to give his take on the never-ending GOAT debate and Laimbeer was the last name to do so.
