Patrick Beverley isn’t known for his humility. As one of the staunchest defenders in the NBA, he uses toughness, aggression, and trash talk to spark his team and get into his opponents’ heads.
If you ask him, he’ll tell you that he’s been locking players up since his NBA debut. And while that may be true, he’s also had moments in which he’s been absolutely torched, especially in his rookie season.
In a chat on the Knuckleheads podcast, he claims Beverley claims that he “forgot” the first time he got beat up on. So, naturally, one Reddit user made it his mission to expose him. User u/bencarswell found the box scores of several games in his first year in which he was torched by his opponents.

An old clip of Pat Bev claiming to not remember getting cooked by anyone when he got in the league circulated recently, so I decided to help him remember. These are a selection of games from the 2013-14 season, his second season in the NBA. He came in January the season before, and this was his first season as a regular starter. Also, this isn’t to crap on Beverly, he’s a good player, but it’s a little ridiculous that he “doesnt’t remember.”
Everybody gets cooked at some point in their careers, so there’s really no shame on Bev getting cooked — especially in his first season. Over time, he has gotten better at perfecting his craft and really slowing down his opponents.
But the guy is not one to admit that it took some time, he’s just too much of a competitor.
