Colin Cowherd: ‘If The Bucks Don’t Win The East This Year, Warriors Could Land Giannis Antetokounmpo’

Last week rumors surfaced suggesting the Golden State Warriors had traded for Andrew Wiggins and the Minnesota Timberwolves’ 2021 first-round draft pick (top-three protected) as part of their plan to land none other than the reigning NBA MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

According to FS1’s Colin Cowherd, everything could fall into place for the Dubs at the end of this season. Cowherd suggests that in the case the Milwaukee Bucks fail to win the Eastern Conference this campaign, that would give the Warriors a pretty good chance to land Giannis once and for all.

Giannis to Golden State is in play if the Bucks fall short this season:

"You thought Durant and the Warriors were good? Giannis, Steph, Draymond and Klay. No thank you… That is a 5-year dynasty." — @ColinCowherd pic.twitter.com/HtLN6nKdcj

“You thought Durant and the Warriors were good? Giannis, Steph, Draymond and Klay. No thank you… That is a 5-year dynasty,” Cowherd said.

This can be more complex than it looks. It’s not like the Bucks are going to accept Andrew Wiggins after he has a few games with the Warriors along with two lottery picks (Warriors’ 2020, T-Wolves’ 2021) for their star player. Giannis is one of the best players in the league and one imagines the Bucks will do everything they can to retain him.

However, it could happen that in the case that Milwaukee fails to win the Eastern Conference, Antetokounmpo could try and force a trade to the Dubs in order to have a better shot at winning a title. It wouldn’t be the first time we see this.

Giannis is due to become a free agent next season, so that could be an even better moment for Golden State to finally assemble a team with Giannis, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.
